Day 2: GREATER GRACE

Psalm 82 and 2 Timothy 2:1

“Be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” These are Paul’s words to Timothy as he is encouraging his “son in the faith” to be a good soldier for Christ. Timothy has faced some difficult times, and Paul assures him there are more tough times yet to come, but Paul also tells him where to look for all that he will need. Grace has been given to the believer through the work of Jesus Christ. It is not grace that we have earned nor is it grace that we deserve. What we have received is that which comes from the willingness of Christ to lay down His life for us, shed His blood for us, and bestow upon us His grace. It is in this grace that we find the strength for whatever is ahead of us.

Remember the hymn, “Grace, grace, God’s grace. Grace that is greater than all my sin.” This is the gift to us from our Savior. It comes to us in abundance and it comes to us freely given. The call upon the lives of those who have received such a wonderful gift is to now live in that grace. What greater demonstration of the love God has for us can we show than to demonstrate His grace to those around us?

Prayer: Gracious Heavenly Father, might I know Your grace in a fresh way today. Provide me with opportunities to demonstrate what You have placed in my heart and to know Your grace on an even greater scale. Speak to my heart this day and show me whose life you will use me to touch with Your grace. In Jesus’ name. Amen
