Day 21: GREATER COMMITMENT

Psalm 37:5 and Joshua 3

David tells us to commit our way to the Lord and He will act. I am reminded of Joshua 3 where the Lord had placed His people beside the Jordan awaiting the command to cross into the Promised Land. For three days the people listened to the river, then in flood stage, roar. They faced an obstacle for which they had no earthly means to overcome. In the fullness of time the Lord told His people to follow the priests as they carried the Ark of the Covenant.

They stood beside the Jordan and faced a choice, step into the raging river as the Lord told them to do and enter into the land the Lord had promised them, or remain safe and stay on the wrong side of the river. As is often the Lord’s way, the waters of the Jordan did not stop for them to cross, that is, until they set foot in the river. The riverbank was steep and the water was fast, so they couldn’t put a toe in to see what would happen – it was all or nothing. “As soon as those bearing the ark had come as far as the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of water, the waters coming down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far away….”

Commitment – you must commit to the Lord to see Him work. Make your commitment today and watch the Lord at work.

Prayer: Lord into Your hands I commit all that I have and all that I am.  Take what I offer and do a mighty work with it, and let me know the blessings of seeing your glory displayed.  Bless my church and our desire to have others come to Christ, that they too might know of Your love for them.  In Jesus' name.  Amen.
